Guided tour of the historical Vergeletto Mills Park in Onsernone Valley. A traditional tasting of typical products will follow.
Discover the tradition! In Onsernone Valley, a hidden pearl, the so-called farina bóna "the tasty flour" is still produced. It is obtained by grinding very finely the corn grains previously roasted. This delicacy holds the prestigious slow-food trademark for the preservation of local and traditional products.
The miller Ilario will guide you through all the steps of this traditional production: from roasting to grinding. Through his stories, you will discover the secrets and history of Vergeletto's Mills Park, in the beautiful setting of the Onsernone Valley.
Afterwards, there will be a tasty aperitif of products made from the bòna flour, accompanied by local white wine and soft drinks. In conclusion, you absolutely cannot miss tasting the amazing homemade ice cream made by bòna flour!
The Mill Park is situated in the village of Vergeletto in the upper Onsernone Valley. Following the course of the river, the inhabitants of the valley have built five mills and a series of canals dedicated to the production of Farina bóna.
Amidst farmsteads with their traditional porous roofs and ingenious devices to make life easier for the miller, the guided tour will take you back in time and its tradition. Inside the main mill, restored and in perfect working order as it was at the time, the scents of stone-ground toasted corn magically air out.
In addition to the possibility of tasting freshly ground flour, at the end of the path, the miller will guide you on a tasty aperitif based on bóna's flour products. From biscuits... to ice cream! All clearly accompanied by a white wine from the Onsernone Valley and other soft drinks.
The activity can be carried out on request every day from July to September. Please book at least 3 days in advance.
Vergeletto in Onsernone Valley, less than half an hour's drive from Locarno.
The event takes place at the Mill Park of Vergeletto (Piazza Chiesa, 6664 Vergelletto), in the center of the village. It is advisable to organize the transfer by shared car as the parking spaces are limited.

Upon request, we organize a series of extensions to the experience at an advantageous price, for example:
Transfer by cable car and walk to Alpe Salei, to enjoy the magnificent view and the magic of the Salei Lake. With the possibility of having lunch at the Alp.
Lunch in a typical regional tavern based on bòna flour polenta and other local delicacies, followed by a swim in the river or a visit to the Ethnographic Museum.
It is even possible to organize a two-day program, with an overnight stay in an inn, in order to discover the Valley in complete calm and live an experience to fully discover the traditions.
